Gray Fire Chief leaves department
Plummer takes job in Massachusetts

Gray Fire and Rescue is officially without a chief. After a several month-long process, the Marlborough, Mass. City Council hired Chief Ricky Plummer to replace their retiring chief during a meeting on Monday night. Plummer has not yet submitted a letter of resignation to the Town of Gray. More-->

Gray Town Council considers departmental budgets

As department heads came before the Gray Town Council last week to present their preliminary budgets and answer councilors' questions, they also presented several pleas to the public. Solid Waste Director Randy Cookson asked citizens to decrease the amount of solid waste brought to the transfer station by recycling and composting more. While the town already has a mandatory recycling policy, Cookson said that the more citizens recycle, the more money the town saves. More-->

I want my PBS... subsidy back

The other night, I saw that Leonard Cohen was performing a concert on PBS. Having been a fan of Cohen's since high school, I quickly flipped over, only to be greeted with the offer of five of his CDs and a book of his poetry if I only gave several hundred dollars a year to PBS. As the show continued, I was able to hear about three songs at a time, but was repeatedly interrupted by people begging me to support public television. More-->
